Athletics
(Children) Competition...
The
Houston Highland Games and Celtic Festival...
 Two
sessions:
- Saturday
(11:30am - Registration;
starting at 1pm)

Sunday
(11:30am - Registration;
starting at 1pm)
The
entry fee is $2 per child (this will be a flat fee and allow
each child to participate in all the events). Each of these
events will award a First, Second, and Third place ribbon.
An award will go to the child that has exhibited the "truest
spirit of competition" and it will be called the "Highland
Spirit" award!
There will be 4 age groups for
each event at each session:
- 4-5
yrs
- 6-7
yrs
- 8-9
yrs
- 10-12
yrs
These
age divisions will each compete in the following events
(to be held at each session):
- 50
yd dash egg & spoon race
- Sack
race mini caber toss
- 3
legged race
All
of the children will compete together in a Tug-'0-war at the
end of each session.
We
will also hold a "Diaper Derby", once on Saturday,
and again on Sunday. The Diaper Derby is free and is just
a "for fun" event. Everyone who participates in
these events will get some sort of "prize".
The
Diaper Derby will consist of a "Turtle Crawl" (for
those still crawling), a "Bunny Run" (for the toddlers),
and a "Haggis Chase" (for those that have mastered
the art of walking, but aren't quite ready for the 'big' races!).
These events require parental involvement and have always
been a big hit in the past.
There
will be "Children's Education booth" and a table
for registration.
